Shalom Global Missionary Outreach is a non-denominational, non-profit, faith based Christian Organisation registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in Nigeria with an unwavering dedication to reaching out to the underserved communities of Africa, with a particular focus on Nigeria.
Since our inception in 1988, we have been steadfastly pursuing a mission of love, commencing our journey in the humble village of Damsa within the Katsina Ala LGA of Benue State. Initially, our mission centred on evangelism and establishing churches, but as we immersed ourselves in these communities, we recognized urgent needs that demanded our attention.
Our scope then broadened to encompass social and health initiatives. We dig boreholes to provide access to clean, safe drinking water, conduct vital medical missions to deliver essential healthcare services, and have also extended our ministry to encompass widows, orphans, and vulnerable children, some residing in Internally Displaced People’s camps. We also facilitate access to education by funding tuition for disadvantaged children, becoming a beacon of hope during times of despair.
The unwavering support of generous donors, churches, and esteemed partner organizations such as SIFAT, Star Ministries, and Howards Heart catapulted our impact to new heights. We expanded our outreach to encompass the Koma Mission field in Adamawa State, the Brukawa field in Bauchi State, the Mumuye people of Taraba State, the Ehamufu people of Enugu State, and the Gugura people of Vere Hills in Adamawa State.
By God’s grace, our efforts have not only nurtured spiritual growth but have also brought tangible improvements to the lives of those we serve. Many of our earliest converts have evolved into trained pastors, spreading the message of God’s love within their respective communities. With about 20 churches now established, countless souls have been touched, and lives continue to be transformed through the gospel of Christ.
The ripple effects of our work extend beyond spiritual and physical well-being. Communities that once inhabited poorly constructed thatch houses now boast sturdier, more dignified homes. Tribes that previously lacked clothing now wear attire, reflecting a newfound sense of dignity and respect. We are fostering self-sufficiency and empowering these communities to flourish. Through the provision of fertilizers and agricultural support, we assist them in enhancing food production, ensuring sustenance for themselves and the ability to share with others.
Before our intervention, these communities had limited access to conventional medicine, relying solely on traditional herbal remedies. In areas devoid of medical facilities, we now offer regular medical services, including deworming for both children and adults. By God’s grace, we have made clean drinking water accessible, leading to a reduction in waterborne diseases in some communities. Whenever possible, we transport individuals with critical medical conditions to city health facilities for proper treatment.
However, our mission is far from complete. Numerous lives still await our touch. With the grace of God, we aspire to build schools to cater to children who have long been denied access to education, opening doors to knowledge, hope, and opportunities. Today, we extend an invitation to join hands with us, to make a significant difference, and to instil hope where it is needed most. By the grace of God, we can bring light to where darkness once prevailed and sow hope in places where despair once held sway. Together, we can change lives, one individual at a time.

“Hope for the hopeless, Food for the hungry, Health for the sick.”
This vision drives everything we do, whether it’s building churches, providing clean water, offering healthcare, or supporting vulnerable families.
“Illuminating Lives, Nurturing Hope, and Transforming Communities with the Love of Christ.”
Our mission is to impact lives through both spiritual outreach and practical support, empowering communities to thrive and flourish.
Approximately a year later, the servant of God, Rev Obi on one of his trips to a village called Puu still within the Tiv land, was confronted by a heart-wrenching situation, which further shaped the ministry’s course. Rev Obi was guided to a family burial ground by a grieving old man. There, three fresh graves bore testimony to a tragic narrative – the man’s wife and their twin infants had died due to lack of medical care. In a moment of desperation, the man gazed earnestly at Rev Obi and implored, “Man of God, can’t you do something to help us?” This profoundly moving incident marked a pivotal juncture, as Rev Obi returned home and shared this story with Dr. Paul Ushe who then volunteered to go with him on his next trip along with some nurses if he could raise funds to procure drugs. This gave rise to the inception of the Medical Missionary division within Shalom Missionary Outreach.
Seven years along this challenging yet transformative journey, a pressing issue emerged. The necessity of providing education for children who had been deprived of formal schooling became evident. In response, the ministry launched the establishment of a primary school. Regrettably, this noble endeavour encountered some setbacks due to lack of funds to run the school and pay the teachers, since the pupils could not afford school fees. This eventually resulted in the school’s closure.

As time passed, the ministry’s influence expanded steadily. Fifteen churches were firmly established in the Katsina-Ala mission field, serving as beacons of hope and faith for the local communities. In 2003, a new opportunity surfaced. The man of God through the leading of the Holy Spirit identified an unreached people group dwelling in the rugged terrain of the Koma and Vere hills in Adamawa State. This discovery prompted the establishment of five additional churches, elevating the total to twenty churches spread across the two mission fields in Nigeria.
Subsequently, the Vision extended to the Brukawa people of Bauchi State, the Mumuye people of Taraba State and Eheamufu people of Enugu State respectively.
Shalom Missionary Outreach remains resolute in its commitment to a comprehensive gospel approach, aiming to address the spiritual and physical needs of the people it serves. This journey, initiated by Rev Livinus Obi’s maiden missionary voyage, has evolved into a profound testament to the transformative influence of love, passion, and unwavering compassion.
